THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE UNDERTAKING IVF
Before commencing IVF, there are a few things that people should be mindful of.
With anything in life, foresight is always 20/20, but wouldn’t it be fantastic if some lessons didn’t have to be learned the hard way, particularly when commencing IVF treatments?
1) Fertility treatments should take precedence in your life.
This may seem absurd to people who already consider infertility to be their primary concern
The majority of women, on the other hand, treat the fertility treatment calendar in the same way they treat any other calendar in their lives – as something that goes alongside everything else.
That, however, is not the case.
If you’re going through IVF, you’ll have to put everything else on hold – especially anything that demands your undivided attention or a lot of energy.
You’ll be unhappy and have a lot of cancellations to express if you overcommit – or expect your calendar will bend to your fertility treatment whims.
2) You’ll require more assistance than you anticipated.
When the going gets tough, your partner, friends, and family are there for you, but they may not be enough.
Before beginning IVF treatments, it’s a good idea to set up a few levels of infertility support so that they’re ready to help you if you need it.
3) Your body will no longer feel like it belongs to you, and it will alter
Hormones have a lot of power.
You have a broad idea if you’ve ever had a very terrible case of PMS
When you start using fertility drugs, however, you’ll start to feel hormones in new and greater ways.
You will lose control of your emotions, moods, and reactions to situations.
Bloating, cramps, abdominal bruising, food cravings, probable weight gain, breast soreness, and an inability to exercise regularly in the weeks preceding up to and after egg retrieval are all common side effects.
The more you and your spouse understand and accept this ahead of time, the easier it will be to grin and bear it (saying things like “it’s the hormones again…”) as you ride the roller coaster up and down.
4) Giving yourself shots isn’t all that tough.
Most women (and their partners) are scared of needles, which is required when taking injectable fertility medicines.
The good news is that it’s not quite as complicated as you may think.
With a very little needle, these medications are given subcutaneously, or beneath the skin.
Diabetics inject insulin with the same needles.
As a result, no particular skills are required, and after the first few injections, the injections are rarely unpleasant.
5) It’s possible that it won’t work the first time
Every couple wishes to believe that they are unique and that IVF will be successful in the first or second round.
Statistically, however, this is not the case
